Legal Notice & General Disclaimer
Welcome to AntNook. The purchase and keeping of live exotic ant colonies and specialized formicaria (ant habitats) involve unique responsibilities. By purchasing any biological subjects or hardware from our website, you (the "Buyer") explicitly agree to the following legal disclaimers and assume all associated risks.
1. Assumption of Risk (Handling, Bites, and Allergies) Live ants are wild biological subjects. Many species possess the ability to bite, sting, or spray formic acid.
-
Personal Injury: The Buyer assumes all risks associated with handling live insects. AntNook is not liable for any bites, stings, or allergic reactions (including anaphylactic shock) sustained by the Buyer, their family members, pets, or any third party.
-
Escape and Damage: While our 3D-printed modular nests are engineered for security, we cannot guarantee against escapes due to user error, improper assembly, or accidental damage. AntNook is not responsible for any property damage, extermination costs, or ecological impact caused by escaped ants.
2. Ecological Responsibility (Strict "No-Release" Policy) You are purchasing exotic species that may not be native to your local ecosystem.
-
Never Release into the Wild: Under no circumstances should any live ants, queens, or brood purchased from AntNook be released into the wild. Doing so can disrupt local ecosystems and is illegal in most jurisdictions.
-
Humane Disposal: If you can no longer care for your colony, you must either transfer them to another responsible keeper or ethically euthanize them (e.g., by freezing the enclosure).
3. Customs, Import Laws, and Permits AntNook ships globally via international air express, but wildlife import laws vary drastically by country, state, and municipality.
-
Buyer's Responsibility: It is strictly the Buyer's responsibility to research and comply with their local agricultural, wildlife, and environmental laws before placing an order.
-
No Liability for Confiscation: AntNook does not assume responsibility for packages that are delayed, seized, confiscated, or destroyed by local customs, the USDA, or equivalent agricultural authorities. No refunds or replacements will be issued for items lost due to the Buyer's failure to obtain necessary permits or adhere to local import bans.
4. 3D-Printed Hardware Usage Our nests and outworlds are uniquely designed utilizing advanced 3D modeling and are intended solely for keeping ants.
-
Intended Use: Hardware must be used according to its modular assembly logic. AntNook is not liable for the structural failure of nests resulting from extreme heat exposure, unauthorized modifications, or improper maintenance.
5. Copyright and Intellectual Property All products, including the mechanical aesthetics, internal structural blueprints, modular designs, and website media (photos and videos) are the exclusive intellectual property of AntNook.
-
No Unauthorized Reproduction: Purchasing our hardware does not grant you the right to cast, mold, reverse-engineer, or commercially replicate our 3D-printed designs. Any unauthorized commercial reproduction will be met with legal action.
6. Age Requirements for Biological Purchases You must be at least 18 years of age, or the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction, to purchase live biological subjects from AntNook. If a purchase is made for a minor, the parent or legal guardian assumes full responsibility for the supervision, care, and legal compliance regarding the live colony.
7. Limitation of Liability In no event shall AntNook's total liability to you for any damages, losses, or causes of action exceed the original purchase price of the specific product(s) that caused the dispute.
By placing an order with AntNook, you acknowledge that you have read, completely understand, and legally accept all terms within this Legal Notice.
