LEGAL NOTICE & GENERAL DISCLAIMER

Last updated: August 24, 2026

AntNook supplies live ant colonies, formicaria, and related keeping equipment. Live insects require responsible handling, secure containment, appropriate husbandry, and compliance with any laws or permit requirements that apply to the buyer, destination, shipment, or species.

By placing an order with AntNook, you acknowledge the responsibilities described below. Nothing in this Legal Notice excludes or limits any right or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law.

1. RESPONSIBLE HANDLING, BITES, STINGS & ALLERGIES

Live ants are biological organisms. Depending on the species, they may bite, sting, spray defensive chemicals, or otherwise cause irritation or injury.

The buyer is responsible for handling live ants carefully, using appropriate containment, following species-appropriate care practices, and keeping colonies away from children, pets, or other persons who cannot safely interact with them.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, AntNook is not responsible for injury, allergic reaction, property damage, escape, extermination costs, or other losses caused by improper handling, unsuitable containment, unauthorized modification of equipment, neglect, misuse, or failure to follow reasonable care instructions after delivery.

Nothing in this section excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability arising from AntNook's own fraud, willful misconduct, or negligence where applicable law prohibits such exclusion.

2. ECOLOGICAL RESPONSIBILITY & NO-RELEASE POLICY

Ant colonies purchased from AntNook must never be intentionally released into the wild.

Non-native ants can harm local ecosystems, compete with native species, affect agriculture, and may be subject to strict environmental, agricultural, wildlife, or invasive-species controls.

If you can no longer care for a colony, do not release it outdoors. Where lawful and practical, transfer it to another responsible keeper or contact an appropriate local authority, experienced keeper, or qualified professional regarding a lawful and humane disposal method suitable for the species.

The buyer is responsible for maintaining secure containment and taking reasonable steps to prevent accidental escape after delivery.

3. CUSTOMS, IMPORT LAWS & PERMITS

Laws governing the import, possession, interstate movement, sale, and keeping of live ants vary by country, state, province, territory, and municipality and may change over time.

The buyer is responsible for understanding and complying with legal requirements that apply to the buyer, destination, intended possession, and any permits or approvals the buyer is required to obtain. AntNook remains responsible for any legal obligations that applicable law places directly on the seller or exporter.

Customs inspections, government actions, carrier holds, confiscation, destruction, rejection, or significant customs delays are outside AntNook's direct control.

Where a shipment is delayed, seized, rejected, confiscated, or destroyed because the buyer failed to obtain a required permit, supplied incorrect information, or ordered a species that the buyer was not legally permitted to import or possess, the resulting loss is not covered by the standard Live Arrival Guarantee and does not qualify for a refund or replacement, except where otherwise required by applicable law or confirmed in writing before shipment.

Any customs or import-related resolution is also subject to the applicable Refund Policy, Live Arrival Guarantee, shipping terms, and any order-specific written agreement.

4. 3D-PRINTED HARDWARE USE

AntNook formicaria, outworlds, and related 3D-printed components are designed for ant keeping and should be assembled, maintained, and used according to their intended purpose.

Minor layer lines, surface marks, color variation, or slight textural differences are normal characteristics of 3D printing and do not by themselves constitute structural defects.

AntNook is not responsible for damage or failure caused by misuse, excessive heat, incompatible chemicals, improper cleaning, unauthorized modification, incorrect assembly, impact after delivery, or use outside the product's intended purpose, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

5. COPYRIGHT & INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Unless otherwise stated, AntNook branding, original website content, product descriptions, photographs, graphics, and proprietary product designs are owned by or licensed to AntNook and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

Purchasing a product does not transfer ownership of AntNook's intellectual-property rights.

You may not commercially reproduce, distribute, cast, mold, copy, or replicate proprietary AntNook designs or website content without permission, except where such activity is expressly permitted by applicable law.

6. AGE & SUPERVISION

By placing an order, you confirm that you are legally permitted to enter into a purchase contract in your place of residence.

AntNook does not knowingly accept purchases from minors who are not legally permitted to enter into a purchase contract without the involvement or consent of a parent or legal guardian.

Where a live colony is kept by or for a minor, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for appropriate supervision, safe containment, care, and compliance with applicable law.

7. BIOLOGICAL VARIATION & POST-ARRIVAL CARE

Live ants are biological organisms, and individual colonies may vary in behavior, worker size, brood development, growth rate, fertility, egg-laying, and long-term performance.

AntNook's Live Arrival Guarantee applies only according to the conditions stated in the current LAG policy and any order-specific terms confirmed in writing before dispatch.

After successful live arrival, the buyer is responsible for appropriate temperature, humidity, food, water, housing, escape prevention, and species-appropriate care.

8. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, AntNook's liability arising from a specific product or order will be limited to the amount paid for the affected product.

This limitation does not apply where applicable law does not permit such a limitation, including certain claims involving death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, willful misconduct, or mandatory consumer rights.

AntNook is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses to the extent such exclusions are permitted by applicable law.

9. RELATIONSHIP TO OTHER POLICIES

This Legal Notice should be read together with AntNook's Terms of Service, Refund Policy, Privacy Policy, Live Arrival Guarantee, and any written order-specific terms confirmed before dispatch.

If a mandatory provision of applicable law conflicts with this Legal Notice, that mandatory legal provision will prevail to the extent required.
